  Bachelor of Chinese Medicine (Hons)

Duration: 5 years (minimum, Full time).

Medium of Instruction: English & Chinese



Learning Outcomes

The development of Bachelor of Chinese Medicine (Hons)

Course curriculum is centered around the following nine learning outcomes:


  1. Demonstrate strong fundamental knowledge in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and clinical techniques / therapies;
  1. Apply knowledge of basic sciences, basic medical and clinical skills of western/ modern medicine in the practice of TCM;
  1. Apply the knowledge of integrated Traditional and Western Medicine to determine the appropriate investigations and diagnosis;
  1. Decide on the appropriate therapy / treatment for the patient's clinical condition; 

    5.  Play roles as health professional in the community health care system and preventive medicine; 


    6.  Communicate effectively with patients, their family/ caregiver and the community at large;


    7.  Adhere  to ethical standards and code of practice relevant to the discipline, be aware of    professional and social responsibilities and commitment to them;


    8. Undertake continuing self-development programme, and participate and contribute to research related to TCM;


    9.  Engage in management and marketing of Chinese medicine and pharmacology 


Programme Overview

The Bachelor of Chinese Medicine (Hons) programme at UTAR aims to produce internationally recognized TCM practitioners who acquired in-depth knowledge of TCM,  and demonstrate  strong ethical values, professionalism, compassion and competence
