NEW
PROGRAMME! BACHELOR OF ARTS (HONS) DIGITAL ANIMATION
Introducing the Digital Animation Programme!
Digital
Animation is a fast expanding and exciting field in Malaysia. Malaysian animated films
have been given international recognition in particular the blockbuster hit
movie Upin and Ipin, Saladin and Geng: The Adventure Begins. The latest movie
titled Seafood has been very positively reviewed by local and international
film critics. The government recognizing the potential of this industry has
established the Multimedia Creative Content Centre to provide co-production
opportunities for animation and other digital content creation initiatives.
Digital
Animation is a specialized field that encompasses production of both 2D and 3D
animation films or videos using the computer. Animation involves a variety of
techniques which can be created digitally on a computer. 2D animation is the
creation of moving pictures in a two-dimensional environment through computerized
animation software. 2D animation can be a simple animated line drawing to a
more complex cartoon style production. For example almost all the early Walt
Disney cartoons were in 2D format. An example of a popular 2D animation film is
the Simpson?s. 3D, like
the latest Malaysian movie Seafood and the earlier Upin and Ipin are done by
pre-modeling the characters, which are much like puppets. They have an internal
'bone structure' which allows for more realistic movement.
