How to Apply

For International Students Only

For those who wish to have short-stay for English Language programme only, kindly refer to the tab "English Enhancement Programme (EEP)" below.


Apply for Foundation/Bachelor's Degree Programme

Complete the relevant application form and submit together with the following documents:

  • 6 passport-sized colour photographs with blue background;
  • 3 copies of passport (all the pages and with validity at least 18 months);
  • 3 full sets of certified -true copies of examination results, transcripts and certificates;
  • 3 full sets of school or institution leaving certificates (if any);
  • 3 full sets of certified-true copies of the English Language Proficiency Test results (if any);
  • 3 full sets of the most recent 6 months' bank statements or other documents that support your or your financial standing;
  • Letter of scholarship/sponsorship, etc (if applicable); and
  • A non-refundable processing fee of RM300.00/USD100 in bank draft/banker's cheque made payable to "Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman" (Personal cheque or cash is NOT accepted)

If you are transferring from another institution if higher education in Malaysia and holding a Student Pass or Dependent Pass, you are required to submit the following documents:

  1. Release letter from the present institution;
  2. Attendance report;
  3. Academic performance report; and
  4. Your present student pass (with validity period shortened)

Additional notes:

  1. You are encouraged to apply 4 months in advance of each intake.
  2. Please write to international@utar.edu.my to request for UTAR bank account details should you wish to pay via Telegraphic Transfer. Acknowledgement of payment made is required for immediate processing of application.
  3. For Sub-Saharan applicant, Eligibility Letter (previously No Objection Certificate; NOC) is required upon application.
  4. You may be required to attend an admission interview, if needed.
  5. Final approval is at the discretion of the Department of Admissions and Credit Evaluation (DACE).

Apply for Master's Degree / PHD Programme

Complete the relevant application form and submit together with the following documents:

  • 6 passport-sized colour photographs with blue background;
  • 3 copies of passport (all the pages and with validity at least 18 months);
  • 3 full sets of certified-true copies of examination results, transcripts and certificates;
  • 3 full sets of curricular vitae, letters of recommendation and school or institution leaving certificates (if any);
  • 3 full sets of certified-true copies of the English Language Proficiency Test results (if any);
  • 3 full sets of certified-true copies of membership of professional bodies (if applicable);
  • Referee form from 2 referees;
  • A research proposal (Applicable to by-research mode Master's applicant);
  • 3 full sets of the most recent 6 months' bank statements or other documents that support your or your financier's financial standing;
  • Letter of scholarship/ sponsorship, etc (if applicable); and
  • A non-refundable processing fee of RM300.00 / USD100 in bank draft/ banker's cheque made payable to "Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman" (Personal cheque or cash is NOT accepted)

If you are transferring from another University/College/Institute in Malaysia and holding a Student Pass or Dependant Pass, you are required to submit the following documents:

  • Release letter from the present institution;
  • Attendance report
  • Academic performance report;and
  • Your present student pass (with validity period shortened)

Apply for English Enhancement Programme (EEP)

  • Certified true copy of the certificate of award
  • Academic transcript
  • Certified true copy of actual English language proficiency test result
  • Certified true copy of school leaving certificate
  • Bank statement for the past 6 months
  • A non-refundable processing fee of RM300.00/USD100 in bank draft/banker's cheque made payable to "Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman" (Personal cheque or cash is NOT accepted)

If you are transferring from another institution of higher education in Malaysia and holding a Student Pass or Dependent Pass, you are required to submit the following documents:

  • Release letter from the present institution
  • Attendance report
  • Academic performance report
  • Your present student pass (with validity period shortened)
