     Dr. Lim Boon Han is an assistant professor in University of Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia. He obtained his Bachelor of Electrical Enginering (first class honours) from University Technology of Malaysia in 1998. Then, he pursued his PhD. study in the same university and he obtained Doctor of Philosophy in Optical Engineering, majoring in Solar Energy Technology and Laser Optics.

   He have engaged in research and engineering works for 16 years, especially in the field of solar energy, optics and electrical engineering. During his PhD study, he had been involved in Gravitational Wave Detector installation and measurement, high precision measurement of the reflectance of solar reflective materials, and Non-imaging Focusing Heliostat (NIFH) theory and applications. After PhD. graduation in 2001, he worked as Research Associate in Malaysia University of Science and Technology, which is a collaborative program between Malaysia and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United States. There, he continued his research in designing and applications of NIFH, such as high temperature Solar Furnace and Concentrated Solar Photovoltaic. In 2004, he decided to further his career as an Associate Professor in China and worked in University Science and Technology of China, Hefei City, where he extended his research in the same research field. In 2007, he went to the industrial after some achievements made in the research. He was appointed as Chief Technical Officer and Chief Operating Officer in Anhui YingTian Renewable Energy Co., Ltd. During that period, he had carried out research, mass production and site installation of solar furnaces, solar trackers, low concentrated photovoltaic system, and flat plate photovoltaic system. In 2011, he was hired by China Triumph International Engineering Corporation, a subsidiary of China National Building Materials as a senior researcher. Over there, he had designed more than 40MW of solar power plants and carried out detailed cost analysis and performance analysis of various types of solar power plants. In 2012, he had slightly changed his research field to high purity material production when he got tenure from Jinzhou New Century Quartz (Group) Co., Ltd. He had made contributions in producing high purity oxygen-free copper ingot and high purity chromium with new techniques. During that time he is also appointed as Visiting Professor in Dalian Polytechnic University.

       However, after 10 years in China, he decided to go back to Malaysia to serve his motherland and to continue his research in solar energy in University of Tunku Abdul Rahman since May 2014. He is a member of The Institution of Engineering & Technology (MIET) and International Solar Energy Society.
