 Globalisation has changed our economy and society in many ways and the unevenness of globalisation will bring about a deepening divide between countries, societies and individuals that have, and those that have not.Therefore, as we experience the kaleidoscope of a fast-changing world, the continuous pursuit of knowledge is deemed a necessity.Furthermore, the rapid growth of information and knowledge has made it crucial for one to look beyond the traditional boundaries of formal education towards education for lifelong learning and development. Like the current global world, the learning process should have no boundaries. Learning is an activity to be undertaken by all and inculcated as a lifelong pursuit.
It is with these challenges in mind that Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) aims to develop innovative and comprehensive extension education programmes for lifelong learners to enhance their personal and professional development. Part-time Honours Degree Programmes and Non-Graduating Programmes provide an avenue for academic advancement to a segment of the workforce in Malaysia who are without tertiary qualifications.
