Facilities

a) OPAC
Bibliographic records of the Library's collection of materials have been input into a state-of-the-art Library system called Virtua ILS and are easily searchable via the OPAC ie. Online Public Access Catalogue. This online access allows searches based on Title, Author, Call Number, etc. The system also allows the patrons to view their account statuses.
b) Internet Access
The Library is equipped with computers allowing easy access for patrons to check their emails, surf the internet or access online databases.
c) Reference Service
It is one of the important reader services provided by the Library. It provides answers to questions pertaining to the verification of information for a specific book or journal or checking of the Library's holdings.
d) Library Instruction
The Library provides instructional sessions on the use of the Library's resources. Instruction on information seeking skills and the use of the World Wide Web (www) are available upon request.
e) Wireless Internet Access
The Library is equipped with wireless internet access points, which allow library patrons to access the internet from their laptops or PDAs. Hence providing convenience and flexibility to library patrons. This service is free of charge for UTAR staff and students. However, all laptops or PDAs need to be configured first at ICTC before they are allowed to be used.
f) Photocopy Service
A card operated photocopy service is available at the Library. Cards can be purchased and topped-up at the Circulation Counter. Library patrons, who photocopy materials, are fully responsible for any action arising from any contravention of the COPYRIGHT ACT 1987.
g) Reading Rooms
Reading Rooms are available for students for the purpose of studying and group discussions. However, noise from discussions should be kept to an acceptable level.
h) Lockers/Cubicles
There are open lockers/cubicles at the entrance to the Library for the storage of bags and personal items. However, the library accepts no responsibility for the loss of any item.
